Census: STOODLEY-WATSON
« on: Tuesday 10 May 05 01:46 BST (UK) »
Benjamin Stoodley married Agnes Watson on 19 Sep 1862 in Middle or New Parish, Greenock, Renfrewshire. I would be most grateful is someone could provide me with any information about them, e.g. Benjamin in the 1861 census and the family (I think there may have been at least one child) in later censuses. many thanks for any help, Jim Stoodley

Many thanks for your valuable information about Agnes Watson. Can I impose further and ask you to try after 1881? Jim Stoodley

think I have found ben's parents, 1861 census. Can send you the original census via email, or I can upload it to my web site and send you the link.

Also on the 1841/1851 census found more Stoodleys, but parents are different from the 1861 census.

I have  original copies of1841- 1851 as well

And from the IGI, (www.familysearch.org)- possibly Benjamins parents - both down as tailors in the IGI 1881 census  (Joseph Stoodley is down as born in 1813.  Should tie in with info from weemary   :O)

Sarah STOODLEY Household
    Female

~~~~~~~~
  Other Information:
    Birth Year <1814>
    Birthplace Kidderminster, Worcester, England
    Age 67
    Occupation Tailor
    Marital Status M <Married>
    Head of Household Joseph STOODLEY
    Relation Wife
    Disability
~~~~~~~~

  Source Information:
    Dwelling 151 St John St
    Census Place Bridgewater, Somerset, England
    Family History Library Film 1341571
    Public Records Office Reference RG11
    Piece / Folio 2376 / 8
    Page Number 11

And just been on to Scotlands People.

Using the free search, gives a Benjamin Stoodley dying in Greenock, Lanark in 1888  had searched from 1862 to 1931 and only one of that name died in Scotland.   (Left Lanark out until the year found).  Entered born in 1835 in the search - as age 27 in 1862 at marriage.  (entered the year of birth after confirming only the one death).

Possibly our man?
