Wall - Dublin
« on: Wednesday 30 November 11 01:49 GMT (UK) »
Looking for any details regarding Nicholas John Wall (born Dublin 10 June 1889 died Dublin 24 December 1956).  Nicholas married a Catherine Brophy (died 1934) and had 5 children.  Believe that Nicholas's father may have been called Thomas and been from Athy, Kildare.

Nicholas had a sister Kitty who became a nun and moved to Adelaide, Australia where she was known as Sister Mary Allacue.  Nicholas also had two younger brothers; Patrick and Joseph - both went to America.

What details do you already have for Nicholas - e.g. birth/marriage/death certs, census returns ?

The closest matches that I see for his birth in Dublin on the BMD Index are one in 1887, and another in 1891 - both Dublin South district.

see :  Introduction to Irish Records

dont know if you already have these details - but this possible marriage might fit the timeline for your Nicholas and Catherine :

  Name: Nicholas Wall
  Registration district: Dublin South
  Event type: Marriage
  Quarter and year: Oct-Dec 1925
  Volume: 2 / Page: 392

  Name: Catherine Brophy
  [same index references as Nicholas]

If this is correct, then a research marriage cert should show details such as father's names etc ..

see :

Hi there,

I think he is adding up to be the Nicholas Wall on the 1901 census in Bow Bridge Dublin aged 9.

All the names of the siblings you mentioned are there.

His parents were Nicholas Wall Sr from Kildare and Emily Hanlon.

Nicholas Wall Sr and Emily Hanlon got married 6th November 1887 in Rathmines Church.

Nicholas Wall Sr parents were Nicholas Wall and Catherine Graham.

Emily Hanlons's parents were Patrick Hanlon and Jane Daly.

It's possible that the Thomas Wall also in Bow Bridge with a son  called Nicholas Wall is the brother of Nicholas Wall Sr. The name Thomas Wall appears on some of Nicholas' paperwork.

All the above is available to view on irishgenealogy.
