Thanks in advance for any help..

Hi,
Ynyshir is closer to Trealaw Cemetery.

There is a Gwenllian Rees Buried there in 1923 aged 82
Plot No. H331.

Hi Brian,
Thank you ever so much.  I think that will be the right one, even though it gives the age of 82, she was actually 83 a few weeks prior to her death.
I don't mean to take advantage of you, but do you happen to know if anyone else is in the same grave or if she is buried on her own.  Her husband is buried in Aberdare so I know he is not with her.
Kind Regards and Best Wishes
Lainey

Hi,

There are others buried in the grave but seem to be unrelated.

They are
Margaret Ann Folken age 31 in 1908
Margaret Roach age 33 in 1908

No others.

Regards

Brian

Hi Brian,
Thank you ever so much for looking for me.  Gwenllian had a daughter Margaret whose married name was Roache, but her age would have been 38 rather than 33.  It looks like it is the right one and that Margaret's age has been mis-transcribed.  Although I don't know who the other person Margaret Ann Folken is.  I have looked at the BMD and can not even find a death registered for a Margaret Ann Folken in 1908, perhaps her last name has been mis-transcribed, but will hopefully find out who this person is at some point.
Thanks again, I appreciate what you have done for me very much.
Best wishes
Lainey

Hi,

I have the Library checking for the Death notice on the Folken in case the name is wrong.

Hi Brian,

Thanks for that, your help is much appreciated.

I will tell you what I suspect and know.  Gwenllian Rees lived with her youngest son Lleyshon and his wife Ann Thomas.  As I previously said Margaret Roache would have been Gwenllian's daughter who was married to a William Roache.  Lleyson's wife Ann was the daughter of a Thomas Thomas and a Barbara Evans. Now this Margaret Ann Folken could have been a relation of Barbara Evans.  I have found a marriage of a Charles Faulkner to a Margaret Ann Evans at Swansea in 1899 and a death for a Margaret Ann Faulkner which could have been mis-spelt as Folken registered at Pontypridd in the last quarter of 1908.
I then looked at the 1901 census and found a Chas Faulkner married to a M A faulkner age given as 25 living at Primrose Street, Ystradfodwg.  It seems likely that this M A Faulkner is the Margaret Ann Folken on the burial register for Trealaw

Best Wishes

Hi,

I have just been looking at the 1901 Census and the Faulkner family were in No. 124 Primrose St and my GtGrandfather and family were in No. 125 is that a happy coincidence.

I also think the 6 month old Son was Glyn Chas Faulkner.

Looks like you are right on the Cemetery Disk I have it has been mis transcribed as Chas is down as d1959 age 86 in Plot H33
M A Faulkner is in H33 too.
The Library states their address at her Death was Fairview Trealaw.
Not very far away.

Regards

Hi Brian,

Yes, what a coincidence that the families were living in the same street.  So what grave No. is Margaret Ann Folken who we now believe to be Margaret Ann Faulkner buried in, is it H331 with Gwenllian Rees or H33 with her husband Charles? Just to get my facts right.

What library did you get the information from on address at time of death?  I did read somewhere last night that the original burial records were at Treorchy Library.

I will have to contact relatives of Ann Thomas the wife of Lleyshon Rees to see if there is any connection with her family to Margaret Ann Evans that they know of.

Thank you once again for all your hard work and time.

Best Wishes
Lainey
