James Valentine Hubbard: Tailor 1844 Norwich

I wonder if anyone can help me.  Is there anywhere that I can search for someone in 1844 in Norwich by their trade?  I am looking for James Valentine Hubbard, who is listed on his marriage certificate as being a tailor at the time of his marriage to Sarah Johnson at St. Gregory, Norwich, his father also James Hubbard, also a tailor.

I have found James Valentine Hubbard on all census. 1851 Farmer in Barford. 1861 Gamekeeper in Kings Cliffe. 1871 Gamekeeper in Southorpe, 1881 Gamekeeper in Kings Cliffe. 1886 death in district of Stamford. All census record his birth as 1820 in Wramplingham / Great Melton.  I have found a christening record in Great Melton in 1820 for a James Valentine, parents James Hubbard and Pleasance Fisher. I have also found a christening record for Pleasance Fisher 1791 in Wramplingham (parents Clear Fisher and Pleasance Purdy) and a marriage record for Pleasance Fisher to James Hubbard in Wramplingham in 1811.  So everything points towards James Valentine's parents being James Hubbard and Pleasance Fisher.  I have also found James & Pleasance Hubbard on the 1841 census living in Wramplingham with a son James aged 20, James senior is a Farmer, born in Norfolk and 1851 & 1861 census he is also a Farmer born in Great Melton. 

The problem is this. My Grandfather (grandson of James Valentine) used to talk of us being descended from a French POW from the Napoleonic Wars who married a local girl.  The wars ended in 1815 and James Valentine was born in 1820 so I presumed that the Frenchman must be James Valentine's father.  However everything points towards James Valentine's parents being James Hubbard and Pleasance Fisher, but James senior was born in Norfolk so that doesn't match with family legend. Of course that tale may be incorrect but the fact that both James Valentine and his father James are listed as being Tailors on the 1844 marriage certificate is bugging me as that doesn't tie in with the 1841 census where James senior is a Farmer as he continues to be, as does James Valentine from 1851 onwards.  It doesn't make sense!  Also I wonder where the name 'Valentine' has come from. I had thought that maybe it was a family name from one of his grandparents but I can't find any marriage records between a Hubbard and a Valentine.  It seems to me that if I can find some more information about 2 tailors in Norwich in 1844 called James Hubbard I might find some answers!  Can anyone help?!

I have Hubbards in my own tree, a 3x great grandfather, Henry Hubbard, christened 21st Nov 1749 in Melton Magna (Great Melton).

Recently I have been looking into the tree of a friend and have found a Stephen Hubbard, christened 30th June 1791, also in Melton Magna.

With the limited social mobility it would be reasonable to assume that there may be a family connection between the two above.

In my general look at the Hubbards I found references for a James Valentine, again linked to Melton Magna.

Do you have any details of the Hubbards earlier than James Valentine? The Hubbards are now of greater interest to me and wonder if we can be of help to each other through shared knowledge.
