Hi
James married Mary Ann Bishop on 17th May 1870. This is his second marriage. I am unsure of his first marriage. It may be to Fanny Parker around 1860 but I have no definite confirmation. I am still looking into this possibility.
Thank you for the idea about James living with John and Ann Wrede. I will look into this although the name Wrede has not arisen before.

Thanks
Rona

There is this death on freebmd

Deaths June qtr 1869
Fanny Dawson  aged 31  Sculcoates  9d 98

And this 1861 entry  for Walkington but birthplace for James and John does not match to 1871 entry

James Dawson 26 b Newbald  agric labourer
Fanny   21  b Bishop Burton
John 1 b Rowley

Hi
Yes I have assumed this is the correct death entry for Fanny Dawson. James remarried in 1870 to Mary Ann Bishop.
The 1861 census again seems to be the correct James Dawson. However the only  marriage entry  for a James and Fanny states they were married in Great Ouseburn in Yorkshire. This seems quite a distance from Bishops Burton. Regarding John Dawson again no Birth Certificate but Rowley is acceptable as this is near both Bishop Burton, Walkington and Newbold.

Thanks
Rona

It would still be worth following up that marriage for a James and Fanny in Great Ouseburn, even if just to eliminate it. Does this fit in time wise to be James's first marriage?

Have you also searched for a marriage between James and Frances?

The Gt Ouseburn entry shows her as Frances - not Fanny

Hi
Thank you for the idea about James living with another family. I have found that the Wrede's, who lived next to him may be related. Ann Wrede (born 1790)was a Dawson before here marriage. Perhaps his aunt. She has a brother William born 1796. I can find no more information regarding him. Do you know any more?

Many thanks
Rona
