Ferguson / Gillespie
« on: Thursday 24 November 11 20:53 GMT (UK) »
Hi was wondering if anyone can help me please do some look up or point me in the right direction?

My great great grandfather was a James Ferguson who was B 20/03/1861 and died 31/03/1947. I have relevant links from here leading to the rest of the descendancy ie his mother and father, Cuthbert and Mary.

What i am really sruggling to find links to are to his wife, my great great grandmother. Her name i believe was a Elizabeth Gillespie and I have no B or D dates for her.She married my great great grandfather 23/11/1887

Her mother MAY have the surname of Horn. I cannot find anymore information on her as to when she dies or any 100% information on who her parents were and if she had any brothers or sisters.

All of the above would have been from around Lanark area.

Would appreciate any help from anyone who has 5 minutes spare who could point me in right direction. Thank you.

If they married in Scotland then sight of their marriage cert will show her parents names and her mothers maiden name

www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

1871 shows James was b Stewarton Ayrshire - not Lanarkshire

1891 shows no connection to Lanarkshire - perhaps you could clarify any such connection in case I am on the wrong track

IGI entry but you need to look at the 1887 marriage cert first

Intresting. I did get that about 6months ago but then retracted as i thought it was wrong, no idea why I just did. Thats a great link proving what i thought on the first place. Thank you.

So you just need to view the marriage cert to confirm her parents names

You also need to check the 1911 census for the family to confirm she was still alive at that time which means you only have to search from 1911 onwards

If you have been searching SP for a death in Lanarkshire - perhaps you now need to try in Ayrshire
