WW1 GRAVES

Hi
I am trying to find out some information regarding a soldier who is buried in St. Bridgett Cathedral Cemetery, County Kildare, and is commemorated on my local war memorial, little is known about him, nothing can be found in local archive.
Pte. Gordon Charles Walker Montgomeryshire Yeomanry who died on 14 September 1915, can anyone tell me how he died as he was not in action, also is there any local newspapers to the area which might have some information regarding his death, he is one of several soldiers who are buried in this cemetery, all roughly about the same period, any help or pointers to this subject greatly appreciated.

Presumably you've checked the CWGC site, which confirms his service numer as 3119 and his parents as William and Catherine Walker, of Wrekin House, 15, Wrekin Terrace, St. Michael's St., Shrewsbury.

A death cert would give his cause of death - there's a good match on the BMD Index :

  Name: Gordon C Walker
  Registration district:   Naas
  Event type: Death
  Quarter and year: Jul-Sep 1915
  Age : 20  (est. year of birth 1895)
  Volume:   2 / Page: 555

As per pm I've been looking into this for you and unfortunately there doesn't appear to be any mention of him in the local papers of the time.  Many thanks to newbridge library for help on that.

I have another avenue to look into and will get back to you as soon as I have an update.

Did you ever get a copy of the death cert for C G Walker?
