Youngers of Fife
« on: Wednesday 23 November 11 00:16 GMT (UK) »
Greetings,
I'm looking for information on a George Younger, born around 1852 in Fife, Scotland. He apparently emigrated to New Zealand/Australia, where his kids were already born. I'd like to know of his ancestors and whether it is possible that one os his sons was William Douglas Younger, born in New Zealand and deceased in South Africa.
I have heard that he was related to the famous Younger brewing family, but am not sure of this.
any help, let me know,
Regards,Pedro

Hi Pedro

According to the following:

http://listsearches.rootsweb.com/th/read/AUS-VIC/2010-03/1267856848

George YOUNGER b 1852 Fife - his  wife was Jane LAING b 1854 Fife and they had 13 children, before George died 1909 NZ and Jane in 1929.  I can see the following Births in NZ BDM, surname YOUNGER, parents George & Jane:

  • Elizabeth Kiddie 1877
    Margaret Laing 1879
    Jessie 1882
    George 1883, Fielding
    Andrew 1885
    William 1886
    Ruby Lillian 1890
    Florry 1892
    John McDonald 1891
    May 1894

I'd say, this is probably George's birth on IGI (extracted record):
George YOUNGER b 3 Dec 1851, Monimail, Fife
Parents: George YOUNGER & Elizabeth KEDDIE

George & Janes son William found above, his birth was registered 1886. Any idea of the year or date of birth of your William Douglas YOUNGER?

Cheers
