Mary 1875
Ellen 1877
Sarah 1879
Elizabeth 1880
Owen 1883
William 1885

The above births are all registered Civil Parish of Buncranna, parents John McDaid, Mary McKinney

The record for Patrick comes from the Roman Catholic baptism also Buncranna, same parents

I don't have access to full records these are from indexed and advanced searches on a couple of different databases, some of the births from the 1870's are available on the family search site

https://www.familysearch.org/

Use advanced search and in put parents names, John McDaid, Mary McKinney, (you'll see there is yet another son William McDaid born 1874)

As for the children not included am not sure, Sarah isn't on Census but may have died or been living elsewhere, don't see a birth record for Cassie, wondering was Sarah also known as  Cassie, (birth dates close.)

Rose is from second marriage as is John, think all other children are from first marriage.

Also the grandchild is daughter Mary's son I think, child Edward McLaughlin baptised 1895 Buncranna RC Church father John McLauglin, mother Mary McDaid

Thank you , I'll look at the FS site now.  I wonder why John called himself William in the 1901 and 191 census ?

Not sure why the confusion in names, I see from your records you had him listed as John William McDaid so perhaps the 2 names were interchangeable.

From John's marriage record his fathers name is William, whilst your records have him as John, again he may have been known by both names.  There is a record of a John McDevitt in the Griffth Valuation farming in BALLINTLIEVE townland Parish of Mintiaghs or Barr of Inch, the same parish where William/John is farming in 1901, speculation but this may be the same person substantial farm (for Ireland) at the time 30acres, appears to be a Cicley McDaid (Widow) living on the farm in 1901 but the land may have been divided on fathers death

http://www.census.nationalarchives.ie/pages/1901/Donegal/Mintiaghs/Ballintlieve/1182222/

Unfortunately don't see any Will records that may have backed the theory

Sorry, I see a mistake on my part, the birth record for William is 1874 not 1885, its the same as the record on the family search site. The last confirmed birth for Mary is Owen in 1883. The death record will be one of the 2 you mention either 1883 or 84

Oh dear just purchased both of these but cant be right. Show an 80 and 90 year old mary - both widows. Cant be as Marys husband John re-married catherine ?

Oh dear again, just looking at william and catherine on 1911 census and shows them married 44 years  i.e. 1867 - thats before he married his 1st wife ??

This family are proving difficult! Maybe take a step back and consolidate the information you have before jumping in too quick, I was confident either of those 2 records would have been correct, I always check against the Civil records that are available, looking through them there dosen't appear to be any suitable death records, didn't take my own advise!!

https://www.familysearch.org/search/records#count=20&query=%2Bgivenname%3Amary~%20%2Bsurname%3Amcdaid~
%20%2Bdeath_place%3Ainishowen%20%2Bdeath_year%3A1883-1893~&collection_id=1408347

The marriage is on the roots ireland site 1887 Buncranna CP Catherine Coyle, John McDaid

I think they may have been confused when filling in the 1911 census form, don't know for sure though

confusing!
