Annie Kinnier/fenton/Dickens
« on: Friday 18 November 11 11:05 GMT (UK) »
Hi all,

After such a spectacular response on another post for Northampton, I am asking for another lookup.

I have an Annie Kinnier born 1858 Northampton

She married a Charles Robert Fenton in Dec 1885 Shoreditch, London

They had 3 children, Robert. Elizabeth and Annie.

Then Charles passed away and she remarried my Frederick Dickens (a widower at the time).

They married on 2nd June 1895 in Bethnal Green.  On their marriage certificate her father is listed as John Kinnier - Bootmaker.

I am looking to find information on Annie's parents.

Cheers

Hi Cheryl,

I took a look at the 1901 & 1891 Census as well of the marriage and according to the ages she was born in 1868, so I'm assuming 1858 is a typo in your post.

It would seem this is her birth:
Annie Kinneir Dec Qtr 1868 Northampton 3b 78

Possible siblings from bmd:
Henry Samuel Jun 1863 3b 79
John Mar 1871 3b 96

1871 Census - RG10/1488 Folio:56 Page:30
2 Court 1 St Mary St, All Saints Northamptonshire
Elizabeth Kinneir Head 35 Widow Shoe Fitter b-Northampton
Thomas Irons   Son   16 Shoe Maker b- Northampton
Eliza   Irons Daughter 14 Shoe Fitter b-Northampton
Sarah Irons Daughter 11   b-Northampton
Henry Kinneir Son 7   Scholar b-Northampton
Fanny Kinneir Daughter 5 Scholar b-Northampton
Anna Kinneir Daughter 2 b-Northampton
John   Kinneir Son 2 Months b-Northampton
George Bowld Boarder 19 Shoe Maker b-Blackwall, Staffordshire

Marriage June 1862 - Northampton 3b 138
Betsy Irons
John Kernier

Death September 1870
John Kinnear 36 3b 51 Northampton

In 1881 Census they are all scattered.
Henry (listed as Harry) is listed as 18 - Lodger b Northampton Shoe Finisher in the household of his brother Thomas Irons and family in St Giles.

10 year old John is in Shoreditch with sister Sarah and her husband (John Wright)

Fanny seems to be boarding in Rothwell Northamptonshire aged 15 in the household of Henry and Harriet Walker. She is listed as Machinist Shoes and listed as being born in Staffs

I havent yet located 12 year old Anna/Annie or her mother (either census, death or re marriage)

I'll keep looking, hope this helps so far.
Holly

To go with some of Holly's information she has kindly found for you.

John KINNEIR died at the Lunatic Asylum and was buried at St. Sepulchre's
on Aug 27 1870 aged 39.

The Lunatic Asylum mentioned could have been St. Andrews (off the
Billing Road).

Elizabeth Irons was baptised at All Saints daughter of William & Eliza
who were living at Weston Row (bricklayer) on the 22 Jul 1833.

She is noted as having been buried at All Saints on 15 Jun 1834 aged 1
and her parents being of Western Terrace.

There was another baptism entry for an Elizabeth on 10 Jul 1836 I think
this is the one you are related to.

Thomas Irons son of Elizabeth above died in 1895.

Billing Road Cemetery.

Thomas Irons aged 43 of 28 Austin Street, Northampton, died
Octr 21st 1895 and was buried Octr 24th in grave A2 1118

Annie his widow on the 1901 Census is at 83 Duke Street.

RG13/1421, Fol 39, Pg 18 Sch 116.

Ok so I have read through all this information, Elizabeth Kinneir in the 1871 Census is married to John Kinneir (who died in 1870 in Mental Asylum).

The 1861 Census posted by Sandy shows Elizabeth's mother and Elizabeth (listed as Betsy).

Now the only question I have on the 1871 Census it lists Elizabeth Kinneir having children with the anme Irons, does this mean that those children were illegitimate?.  And could it be a possibility that they are John Kinneirs children??.

Wow you guys are fantastic, thank you again for your help on this query.
