cambridgeshire burial records
« on: Tuesday 15 November 11 17:14 GMT (UK) »
having used Camdex to find death records for three of my ancestors I obtained the following details

Bernard Arthur Green         1959 332/D/ELY/13A/376
Rose Green                         1959 424/D/ELY/13A/424
Athelstone John Green        1959 343/D/ELY/13A/343

I visited Ely Cemetery recently and spoke to a person there who allowed me to look in the records and I subsequently found the unmarked plot for Athelstone but there were no records of burials there for the other two.

Does the Ely reference covers more than Ely Cemetery or even cremation somewhere else?

freebmd shows death of Bernard as being in Burwell.

Any information would be appreciated.

Deaths have to be registered in the district where they occurred, but obviously, the burial or cremation doesn't have to be in the same place, or even in the same district.
So all you can tell from CAMDEX is the district where the person died, and the death certificate will have no information about the burial.

The death certificate itself will give you a more specific place for the death - which may help you to find where the person is buried.
Ely district covers several parishes:

It may be that the people you are looking for didn't actually live in Ely - for instance someone who lived in a nearby village might have died in hospital in Ely, but been buried in their local churchyard.
