Hi Sancti,

She probably died in New Monkland.  That is where she was married and where her children were born.
The last child was born there in 1811.  Thank you for your interest.

Kathy

Hi,

How do you know that John and William are brothers?  I see the possibility but haven't found proof.  I would love to have found that connection!

Thanks,
Achra

Hi Achra

John's parents on his death certificate in 1855 are given as Mary Loudon and John Baillie. William's parents on his death cert. in 1858 are also John Baillie and Mary Loudon. I have taken that as proof. Also William is living at Crook Brough in 1841 and John at Crook, both farms in Shotts Parish. Presumably they are neighbouring farms which suggests they could be related. I hope this helps.

Thanks, Country Lass!

This is wonderful.  Now I will try to connect more Baillies from the information I have.

Here's William Baillie's death information:
========================
Death Entry, information as found at New Register House, July 2002

District registration and entry number: New Monkland, 651/2 #156
Name and Surname:William Baillie
Age at death:76
Occupation: Farmer
Date of death: September 21st, 1858, 9h30 PM
Place of death:Clarkston
Marital Status: Married
Name of spouse:
Name of father: John Baillie (dec)
Occupation of father: Farmer
Name of mother: Mary Louden (dec)
Cause of death: General Debility 6 weeks, James Cullen MD, Sept 18th
Name of informant: William Baillie
Relationship to deceased: son - not present
Additional notes: burial place - Shotts Churchyard (Kirk O' Shotts?) -James Baxter, sexton
Registered Sept 23rd at New Monkland, John Macarthur, Registrar
============================
I have all sorts of Baillie miscellaneous, including a possible death for John Baillie senior, and for Mary Louden, as follows:

A possible from Jim Bundy's transcription - Bankhead, not Bankend - a possible error in transcription?
1815 Oct 15
To John Baillie Bankhead 85   Mortcloth Money 13 sh
=========
From Shotts Mortality Book - could this be William Baillie's mother, MaryLouden?  The Baillie family were in Bankend at that time.

The best Pall or Mortcloth
1816 July  9 Mrs Baillie Senr Bankend "13"

and again - same person, different address,  neighbouring farm, possibly, or same farm.  There is a Crook Brough over Bankend in the 1841 census with Baillies living there.

Mort Cloth Money
1816 July 9 To Mrs Baillie Senr Crook "13"
==============================
I also have some deaths of children to a William Baillie at Foulshiels - could that be William, son of John, nephew of my William?
