GOODWIN of Farnsworth
« on: Sunday 13 November 11 18:50 GMT (UK) »
I am researching GOODWIN in Farnsworth, particularly details of John Wilfred, born Farnworth 1882 but possibly killed in WWI, Henry Cuthbert, born Farnworth 1883, and George, born Farnworth 1887. All are children of James GOODWIN and Elizabeth MILLS. James was a grocer with the co-op and the family moved around a lot. There were other children born to them but not in Farnsworth.
Did Henry and/or George remain in Farnsworth, marry and have families there?
Thank you.

Hello,

In 1901 the family, including Henry and George are living in Oxford.
Have you checked the 1911 census or Free BMD for them?

regards

heywood

Hiya Ron...can you clarify , as you say Farnworth and Farnsworth
Farnworth is within Prescot register office in 1880`s (now within Widnes )
Farnsworth is just outside Bolton ....between Farnsworth and Farnworth is about 40 miles ...

Allan, looking at censuses, it is Farnworth.

Ron,
we are not allowed to post 1911 census information, but if you search either http://www.1911census.co.uk/ or Family Search and use Farnworth as a birth search, you will probably find them. You will then have geographical areas to help in your search.

Sorry about that. I meant Farnworth. And sorry for the confusion. I know now that they all moved away from Farnworth  - got my research in a bit of a mess. I do notice that there are still some GOODWINs in Farnworth today, but I guess GOODWIN is quite a common surname in Lancashire. Thanks again.

Lol...census says Farnworth ...but...Henry Cuthbert b 1883 is registered Bolton...so...could they have moved from Farnsworth , Bolton - to - Farnworth, (Widnes) and that is what the confusion is ???....not impossible ....
have you checked
www.lan-opc.org.uk/Search/indexp.html to see if any of the family are on the Lancashire Parish records ??

No it's Farnworth  :)  Henry was registered in Bolton registration district.

There are two Farnworth places - no Farnsworth
