Martin Rafferty

I am seeking information on a Martin Rafferty, possibly Edward Martin Rafferty. The England 1891 census gives birth circa 1852 and born in West Meath, Mabe?
He appears in England 1881 census as Edward so seems to have come to England prior 1881.
Any information will be gratefully received.

Westmeath is a separate county to Meath... and Martin's birth is before the start of full civil records in 1864, so you need a fairly precise place of birth for him (ideally a town, townland or parish) to start a search for a baptism.
Do you have a marriage cert for Martin ?

Hi,
If he is then this could be his death from the Hammersmith Parish register.
Martin Rafferty 03/03/1914 Hammersmith aged 62.

if that's the correct Rafferty family - then this looks like a possible birth for the younger daughter on FreeBMD :
Quarter/Year: Dec 1886
Reg. Distrct: Fulham
Name : Lotty Rafferty
Volume: 1a
Page: 183
That 1891 census gives her place of birth as Hammersmith - this seems to be included in the district of Fulham. A birth cert would show her mother's maiden name and help trace the marriage, if you dont have that..

'Mabe' reads better as 'Mote' which could be Moate, Westmeath.

Caroline is in 1881 with son Frederick, 6 yrs at RG11 Piece 1504/ folio 100 /page: 50 living in Oxfordshire.
At the moment, I can't see a marriage.
Do you think that Martin is the Edward Rafferty, lodging in Yattendon?

Eldest daughter's place of birth on the 1891 census looks a bit like Oxford to me.. I cant make out Carloline's yet though
