MOSS family
« on: Thursday 10 November 11 19:46 GMT (UK) »
I'm finding a few of my family members appear to have spent time in Northants in the late 18th and early 19th century, so far mainly around Towcester. One I am sure of is Joseph Moss who married Sarah Archer in Towcester in 1826, although he was born in Kent and she was born in Bucks.
The family later moved to Leicester.
I am now finding people I think may be related but can't yet prove it, eg John Moss who married Lydia Hyde from Daventry in 1815 in Bucks and then also moved to Leicester.
From visits to Northants records office I see there was quite a big contingent of Moss family in Charlton and that area around 1800-1850.
So, does anyone out there have Moss in their family tree? My best hope of connecting the chains is if I can work backwards from someone living now and we can trace a common ancestor. Here's hoping! :)
Thanks everyone,
Christmassy

Have you tried checking the Surname Interests Table (SIT), to see whether others are researching this family?

This can be found at http://surname.rootschat.com/ , there is a link to it at the top of each Rootschat page.

The more people who enter their surnames, the more chance there will be of making a connection!

Thanks to both of you. I've registered surname interest, thanks for the tip. As far as I know we don't have links in Tennessee, but who knows what I may find out in the future. all the best.
