What does it mean?

Hello
I have found a marriage that took place in 1590 in the county of Cambridgeshire and under the heading Place: it has “Ely Diocese Marriage Licences” I have never come across this before on the findmypast website. Can anyone tell me what this might mean?
Cheers mate.

I would think that it is because the record is transcribed from the Ely Marriage Licence records rather than from the church where it actually took place, which would have been in the diocese of Ely.
Regards
Andrea
