GOODE - New Bilton - missing family
« on: Monday 07 November 11 11:50 GMT (UK) »
Can anyone help me get past a brick wall?

I am looking for the following family in the 1911 census - The entry will probably look like this -

William Francis GOODE (possibly Francis William Goode) aged 29, Fitter's Labourer Ordnance Works, born in New Bilton, Warwicks
Lilian GOODE aged 26 - married for 3 years
Rosina Emma GOODE, daughter, aged 3, born in Winchester, Hants

The family were living in Winchester, Hants in March 1908 (Rosina's birth cert.), and had moved to 24, Jubilee Street, New Bilton, Warwicks in May 1911 (birth cert for next child).

His mother Emma was living with his brother Henry in Lawford Road, New Bilton in the 1911 census but are recorded under the name GOODS !!!

My guess is that they were living in New Bilton or thereabouts at the time of the 1911 census - that is where his family were from and he had been discharged from the army at Bordon, Hants in 1910 so probably had no reason to stay in Hampshire after that date. But where are they??? I have tried searching under numerous names, Goode, Good, Goods etc but to no avail.

I have no concrete info on his wife at all - esp no birth town/county, but that's another story!

Any help would be very much appreciated.

I have also posted this under the Hampshire section.

Thanks

The index is free to search and there are lots of suggestions on this thread:

Sorry - I understand, but if someone did find them would it be allowed for them to tell me what spelling of the name to look under and I will search myself?

You mentioned somewhere that Lilian's father was a soldier, deceased.  Do you think that Lilian's family were living near to the barracks in Wiltshire/Hampshire where Francis William was based?  There may be an army record for William!
