Richardson and others
« on: Monday 07 November 11 07:19 GMT (UK) »
Hello to all you seasoned researchers of ROMANYS.Whilst researching a Lodge/Richardson marriage and trying to get back further than late 1700's I found that some names kept popping up. Would any of you know if these families have a connection to Romanys.
LODGE,KING,EASTER,CHALK,ARCHER,RICHARDSON,COOPER,SPICE,SAUNDERS,SCOTNEY,BAILEY.
Would appreciate any information.

Roomar; A glance showed me that *many* of those surnames could be considered Gypsy ones.

A look in " A Romany In The Family ", by Robert Dawson, shows most of them could.
GAITES (Alverstoke / Bath Pre 1850)
CURTIS (Portsmouth & 1800's Berkshire).
BURGE (Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire)
HUNTLEY (Dorset, Hampshire, Sussex, 'Surroundings')

Hi,
Any first names that you are looking for all the surnames are adopted or used by Gypsy/Romany famillies perhaps with the given names researchers may be able to help you.
