Hi...I'm back! :)

I am finding it impossible to search for my 3rd Great Grandmother Hulda (Huldah Griswold).  I cannot seem to find any documentation the matches her.  All I know is that she died in Hastings Ontario on April 12th, 1878.  She was married to William Green, they were married in about 1835.  I believe she was born around 1812.  I have her as being born in Canada (as found on her death notice), however the Green family all came from Connecticut, so it is possible that her family did as well.  I am unsure of how many children they have, but my 2nd Great Grandfather would have been William Green (their son) b: 1882 d: 1934.

If anyone has any information I would greatly appreciate their help! :)

How could Hulda Griswold and William Green be the parents of William if he was born 4 years after Hulda died? And if Hulda was born about 1812, she would have been 70 years old in 1882 (if she were alive).

There is a marriage in the Ontario marriage database for a William Green marrying Mary Caverly(?) in 1894 whose parents are listed as William and Hulda Green but he was born about 1853.

Why do you think Hulda and William were the parents of William (born 1882)?

My dates are all messed up.  I know William Green and Mary Jane Caverly are the real thing...the rest I adopted from someone who is 'studying' the same line.  Lena Ethel Green is William and Mary Janes daughter, and she was my great grandmother.  I suppose I don't really have anything that verifies that William Green and Hulda Griswold are the parents of William Green ... I assumed that the other researchers must have known or found something.

I looked at this briefly, and I for the most part have all of that information, however..you leave a good question in my mind now... is it even accurate?

There is another marriage for William Green as follows:

William Green, 24, born Rawdon, son of Wm and Huldah Green married Alice Smith, 21, born Rawdon, daughter of Henry and Phebe Smith on 10 Oct 1877 in Belleville, Hastings County.

There is a death for an Alice Green, age 32, who died 2 Jan 1886 in Thurlow, Hastings County.

I can't find any birth registrations at Ancestry for a William Green who was born in Hastings County in 1882. I also can't find any deaths in Ontario for a William Green who was born in 1882.

What information do you have on William (born 1882?) that you know for certain is true (marriage, children)?

I was able to find the marriage certificate for William Green and Mary Jane Caverly.  The certificate shows the parents for William Green as William and Hulda Green... so I guess it is so..

Hi,

The marriage certificate is all I`m going on (besides the previous research done by others) - It states that William and Mary Jane married in Hastings on Nov 28, 1894 and that William was 41 - which would indicate he was born in 1853 - The only children I know of is Lena Ethel Green
