Thanks Radcliff. You're on the right track with those records - David married Jane Grundy, and Edward married Mary Greenhalgh. I'm fairly certain that David is Edward and Mary's son, but I can't be sure without the baptism record. The opc website for Little Hulton doesn't have baptism's for Wharton Presbyterian before 1803. I think David was born in 1802, so I've hit a wall there.

Baptisms at Wharton Lane Presbyterian Church only began in November, 1803, so it would be a case of finding another Presbyterian Church in the vicinity that was open at the time of David`s baptism.  That is if they were Presbyterian prior to Wharton Lane opening.

Any ideas where I should look? Considering they switched from Wharton Presbyterian to Peel Chapel (Church of England) with their later kids, they can't have been to worried about switching denominations.

I did a quick search on ancestry.com to see if they held his baptism records, and instead found that someone has a photo of his gravestone. I'm not a member though and can't access it. So frustrating!

Good Day, I have picked up old correspondence between you and Aidensrest about McBeath family from Glasgow etc, last known in Kidderminster.  I want to add that I appear to be a descendant of one of the branches and have documents citing various family members. I would like to add my penyworth and add more.

Hi Mell,

David Davies was the son of my ancestors Edward Davies and Mary Greenhalgh. Although no baptism can be found for him his son Amos came to Australia and brough out his uncle Israel. Amos' uncle Enoch, my ancestor, was already in Australia having been contracted by the Australian Agricultural Company. I have quite a bit on this family I can share with you if you let me know your email address.

Regards,
Ryan Dudley

not sure if this is any hlep - ive been researching my family for a few years mainly around leigh by recently from little hulton , although i dont have the name Davies in my tree - I have many relatives buried at wharton Pres

you may find the following info useful -
I have found marriages at St Marys Deane Bolton as this was a much earlier church
some at Worsley, Eccles , and they did use wharton and alos st pauls peel church as they were on manchester rd.
I would not rely too heavily on the lancs on line for St marys Deane , there are three 'batches' missing and they havent been transcribed on line yet ( not a fault of Lancs on line but they have e mailed me about the 'problem')The records can still be found on family search - (very fiddly )

I visited the burial ground at wharton and its a lovely place very out of the way and took pics
