hi , I have been looking for a record for a David jarvis about 1800 - but couldnt find it - when i posted a message on ancestry i got this reply - from a member :-
Have you considered that the burial record maybe a mistranscription. I checked LancashireOPC for births circa 1827 in Little Hulton as death for Mary Jarvis daughter of David and Jane states aged 3 and found baptism record: 11 June 1826 Peel Chapel, Little Hulton - daughter of David Davis & Jane - Abode: Worsley - Occupation: Collier.
1841 census search in Little Hulton has:
David DAVIS (coal miner), wife Jane and children Jacob, Amos, Mary (born c1837), Margaret and Edward.
1851 census search in Little Hulton has:
widowed David DAVIES with children Jacob, Amos, Mary, Margaret, Edward, Elizabeth and Thomas.
No sign of David Jarvis (or similar) with wife Jane in 1841 or 1851 census.
Do you think it possible that Jarvis in the burial record is a mistranscription of Davis?
i found this burial record and thought it was one of mine as it was jarvis -
Mary Jarvis age 3- daur. of David & Jane Jarvis of Little Hulton buried 19 Jan 1830 Peel Chapel, Little Hulton
We seem to think there may have been a transcription error and someone has mistaken the name davies for jarvis . im conected to JARVIS not DAVIS -
its strange as i was just looking for this particular family and couldnt find a birth for him - but this burial record doesnt fit with my tree -
As its a bit confusing now and ive only just got that reply from the other memeber ill have a closer look at this
