Wilhelm Deichmann of Braunschweig
« on: Friday 04 November 11 02:43 GMT (UK) »
Wilhelm Deichmann was born about 1810 in Germany. He emigrated from Hamburg, Germany to New York, where I believe he married Amelia Verplanck.

In the 1860 US Census a William Dickmann is listed in Brooklyn, New York, born in Hamburg, with his wife Amelia listed as being born in Holstein, his son Conrad and daughter Augusta. He was a barber.  A year prior a William Deichmann was listed in a local directory in Brooklyn as living or operating at 289 S 1st as a hairdresser.  I just found in a New York passenger list a Wilhelm Deichmann 42 (1811) who arrived in New York 31 May 1853 on the Copernicus from Hamburg and he was a barber from Braunschweig. Any help on his origins would be greatly appreciated. God bless.
