I'm afraid it's not the up-to-date one, I think it's the first or second edition.

Thanks for the offer. I do have the 2nd Edition which I got from the LRFHS but I haven't found it particularlly useful for my family. I didn't know if the 3rd Ed' had more in for Leicestershire or not. The most useful ones I have are the Welford Road Cemetery CD and the Leicestershire Burials CD 1800 onwards. What I could really do with is a Leicestershire pre 1800 and also a Safron Lane and Belgrave Cmty CD as I have family in all of them. I believe Gilrose is on the way currently. Believe it or not, I have family members who died in the 1960s and 1970s in Leicester and their death cert's and burials cannot be found. One of them had there ashes scattered in Gilrose, I am told by someone who was there. I wonder if these are recorded as well as burials?

Cheers - Mark

Yes I've just had a look and there's only one church in Ravenstone, Leicestershire on the CD - how rubbish is that  ???

Greeting’s. ……..

May I put the record straight………
regarding lack of Leicestershire records on the NBI.
This CD was put together by Family History Societies throughout the Country.
With the option to opt out if they wanted to. ……

Leicestershire  rightly opted out because they could and do raise much needed funds by producing their own CD’s ….to help the running of the Society…….

Sorry if we upset you, no-one is blaming anyone it's just disappointing to discover when you've bought something that the information we need is so minimal.  If you have a link where we can purchase the information that we're looking for perhaps you could post that here to help us.

Mike, I see that you are researching the name Hall, is that in the Isle of Wight?  I have a gravestone photograph for a Reverend John Hall, wife Charlotte and daughter Emily - would they be related to your family line?

Thanks for the information Mike,

No criticism intended at all of the LRFHS who do a great job of providing info. No criticism intended for the NBI either, just a discussion of the relative merits of information sources as they pertain to Leicester.

THE NBI, while not being good for Leicester, has proved very useful for other places and I purchased it for this reason after already having purchased the LRFHS Welford and Leicestershire CDs.
