I am currently trying to research my great grandfather and great grandmother. I have some information about my grandparents, but nothing is adding up. Can any one tell me where I'm going wrong.
Grandfather:
George Jenkins - born 5th Sept 1907 in London, death 13th January 1988 in Buxton (according to Certified Copy of an Entry of Death).
You would think this would be enough to nail down his birth certificate, however, I am torn between - Ernest George Jenkins, Jul-Aug-Sep 1907, Southwark, Greater London, London, Vol 1d, Page: 75 (my family has a habit of using middle names) and George Jenkins, Jul-Aug-Sep 1907, Camberwell, Greater London, London, Surrey, Vol. 1d, Page: 885. I have no proof that either is correct.
My Grandfather had a sister
Phoebe George (nee Jenkins). There is an entry for Ruth Phoebe George that seems good, but this might be a smoke screen. I can't decide whether she was born after or before him. I believe she married Jason E. George in April 1954, so I would assume that she is a lot younger or this is a second marriage. This was the only Phoebe Jenkins to marry a George I can find, so I presume it is correct. I don't know of any other siblings.
My
Great Grandfather was also named
George Jenkins - death 19th March 1954 in Lambeth Hospital. I have no information on my
Great Grandmother.
Even if I ordered the certificates I feel are right, I won't know for sure that I have taken the correct path.
Am I going about this the wrong way.....Am I missing the obvious.....Where too from here.....
Sorry for rambling. I would appreciate all your thoughts.
Clare.
