Hertfordshire Regiment WW1
« on: Monday 31 October 11 08:02 GMT (UK) »
Does anyone have information about the Hertfordshire Regiment in WW1. Specifically the actions in which the 1st Batallion fought during May of 1916?

Thanks.

Philip

Hi there

I have been attempting to make some sense of the Hertfordshire Regiment as my grandfather was in the Herts Yeomanry.  It all seems a bit confusing to me and I think you need to have some military knowledge to fully understand it.

I do however have some information on the 1st/1st Hertfordshire Yeomanry with names of those killed in action.

From what I can glean they were in the Dardanelles 1915, Egypt and Palestine 1914-1919, Mesopotamia 1916-1918 and France 1916-1917.  I also have the War Diary for the 1/1 Herts Yeomanry in the Dardanelles from Aug 1915 to 30 Nov 1915.

I was actually trying to establish if my grandfather took part in Galipoli as his war record must be amongst the burnt offerings but I got lost with divisions and squadrons in all the paperwork I collected. ???
