An Oliver Ledwith, age 68, died in 1883. I'm pretty sure he was the Oliver Ledwith (or Ledwidge) from Mabbot St. (on the north side of the city), listed in the 1851 census as Ledwith, Oliver, 32 Mabbott St (parish of St Thomas in the North inner city) (carpenter)

He would have been born around 1815. It's very likely he would have had a son called Oliver. So I'd suggest that the Oliver who married in St. Andrew's in 1873 would likely be his son.

While perusing the Db I noticed that Oliver Ledwich and Rosanna Doyle were god-parents to Eliza Ledwich, born to John Ledwich/Eliza Barker in 1826, Dublin south. My own ggggrandmother was Anne Doyle, who married Richard Ledwidge, lived also Dublin south. Just wondering whether these Doyles (and consequently, the Ledwidge/che/s) were related.

G'Day Don
That could be the link but with so little documentation its hard to prove.
The Oliver Ledwith/dge from Mabbot st, I thought he was born in 17something, which I would of thought would make him a bit old to have a young son 1853.

As i have been writing this, it struck me , there seems to be a run of Olivers;
1. Oliver Ledwith B 1782 St.Pauls
2.  Oliver ledwith B.c1815  D. 1883 age68
3.   Oliver Ledwidge B.c1835 went to Eng. D. 1902
4.    Oliver Ledwidge B.c1853  M.1873

Do we see a pattern emerging or am I clutching at straws. The documentation linking all these just isn't there. Someone with a familly bible would come in handy about now.

Regards, Graham

No need to bump up your post- if someone can help they will post on this thread but since the information you'd like to find is pre-civil registration such records might not exist.
Away sorting out DNA matches... I may be gone for some time many years!
