You put me in touch with your Mom some years ago. The people that Father Joe visited in Ireland were members of his mother's family, the Lammonds. They were originally from the townland of Tooreen in Crossmolina, but later moved to Rathnamaugh in Kilfian Parish. Fr. Joe was speciifically visiting his Aunt Maggie, who was married to a Thomas Gallagher. I have met two of her granddaughters but they are not especially willing to stay in touch with us.
I have Mary Lammond Grifferty's parents' death certificates. John died in 1913 and Anne in 1923. She was nearly ninety years old. The reason she was in Rathnamaugh appears to be because Maggie was taking care of her after John died. It appears that one of her sons, Thomas, had also moved there.
I met Thomas's son Peter in 1998 during a trip to Ireland. He was living in the Rathnamaugh homestead. I think I sent your Mom the picture of the cottage. Last summer, I tried to find the Tooreen cottage on my own, because I know it is still owned by descendants of the Lammonds but was unable to.
Grifferty is also spelled Crifferty. I have been trying to find out where Uncle Griff, as my mother called him, came from.
