Owen Mcguirk
« on: Wednesday 26 October 11 16:32 BST (UK) »
Hi all, i put a post on here some time ago regarding my Great Grandfather Owen Mcguirk. I knew he came from Monaghan to Liverpool sometime prior to June 1868, which was when he married Elizabeth Mullin in Liverpool and had 8 children. I have since found a Birth/Baptism record for their eldest son Thomas in the Ireland Births and Baptism records. Thomas was born/baptised on the 12th May 1869, which means his parents must have returned to Ireland for his birth. The record says, Monaghan, Monaghan, Ireland and FHL Film Number 101187. Does anybody know how, or where i could find out more about this record?  Thanks Alan..

The record you mentioned is an extracted civil birth record. The vital details are the references - i.e. 'v 8-1 p 343 '. You can use these to locate the correct Index references needed to order a birth cert from the GRO, which will show some additional details. Here are the relevant index references :

  Name: Thomas McGuirk
  Registration district:   Monaghan
  Event type: Birth
  Year: 1869
  Volume: 8 / Page: 343

for details on ordering a birth cert see :

Previous thread for reference : Owen Mcguirk, Monaghan
