Waterside and Hurlet were both small hamlets situated as described by Baird - I don't believe that tenements were ever built in either and Waterside #3 could simply refer to the third house in Waterside.... there is nothing left of either of them now other than their names in some of the businesses which have been set up.

Corsemill became known as Crossmill and is now a part of Barrhead

The Abbey Landward area was part of the Abbey Parish of Paisley which extended outwith the Burgh Boundaries and took in parts of what are now Barrhead and Nitshill (which includes Hurlet and Waterside)

Hi all

Just picking up on some old info again...

This is all really useful info on corsemill/hurlet

Do you think the mitchell might hold old photos of this area?

Cheers

Paul

hi Paul

You'd probably be unsuccessful at the Mitchell.

The area your enquiring about now comes under East Renfrewshire Council, who have their own archives, local history section, see this link for more info http://www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk/archives
