Go back to the National Archives and put Alderman William Grant into the search box and it will bring up the link to his record.

 It’s in 1917-1918.  ADM 337/124/309.
You have to register but it’s free, then you can order the record again it’s free. Then you can download his record, there is only one page.

How does an original posting from 2011 suddenly make front page news on the Common Room forum in 2026 ??!
I don't know , but it seems to make a good point for never making websites slim down or at worst defunct.

The original poster  was only on RC for 3 months !

I was interested in this as I used to live just round the corner  from William Grant`s house.
