Humax HDR Fox T2 via Panasonic TV

In the case of this Panasonic TV, the manuals are available for download from the Panasonic site.  However, since my version of this TV has already had 3 software updates in the six months that I've had it, how practical is it for me to check, and how often should I check ?  And, of course, this particular TV will only update itself if it is connected to a network with internet access, and some buyers may not bother to do so.  To be honest, the software updates to this TV have only been made to add functionality, which are fairly obvious to the user.

I think that very many users are confused by the surfeit of updating etc. They just want a working TV!

Flushed with the success of getting my remote controller and connection working I now intend to purchase the Humax wi-fi dongle in order to connect to the internet via my wireless router.
I have read some adverse comments about the dongles abilities, which were written about a year ago, does anyone have more recent experiences to share?

To be honest, at £39.99 you would be better off getting a couple of Power Line adaptors, which you can get for £25.99 a pair from Ebuyer

These send the signals via your mains wiring, and you can get better speeds this way.  All you do is plug one adaptor into a 13A socket near your router, and plug a (supplied) cable from one of your router LAN sockets into the adaptor.  At the other end, you just plug the other adaptor into the wall, and plug a cable from that adaptor into the Humax.

Another advantage with these is that the dongle is specially made for the Humax, and probably won't work with anything else, whereas these Power Line adaptors can be used with anything.

Nick we use just the same system to use the 'net via our humax freesat box/panasonic telly. It works very well unless someone has nicked the Devolo (the ones we use) cable to use with their laptop, their games console or to put the dog online for all I know. I keep buying another set of plugs and cables, but the electronic devices seem to proliferate faster.

I first started using them when we wanted to put some IP cameras in places where it would be tricky to put in network cables, and I was surprised how well they worked.  When I wanted extend the system I bought some of the Ebuyer ones, not knowing if the different makes were compatible, but they all work just fine.
