Find My Past - New television series

i actually liked this program it was interesting to see the peoples reactions as each bit unfolded and that they were taken to the place events took place much the same as WDYTYA yes there was quite a lot of repeating what was already said but i think that is aimed at people who are not amateur genealogists. if they found which boat the chaps grandfather came back to the UK on and if it was one of the ladies ancestors then that would have really tied them altogether nicely.

I was disappointed with this too.  Far too much recapping, the 'bite-size chunk' approach to programming seems to be the order of the day on TV now ~ it's probably to do with a) having to fit it around all those ad breaks and b) the assumption that viewers will get bored if they have to concentrate on one item for more than about 30 seconds!  I also thought it was disjointed and confusing but liked the veteran's oral testimonies.  I was expecting more specific genealogy too but, like someone has said, this seems to be tacked onto what is essentially a social history series.  I'll watch the next episode but I suspect that will be just as irritating

Did anyone ever watch that programme where they connected real people to royalty? Parts of that were absolutely fascinating.

genjan I think you've got it! Reckon they have to do it in small segments that they can include or exclude a few depending how many ads they end up with - so it's the programme that gets stretched or chopped - not the ads

I liked the content, and it was very interesting - however, my pet hate spoiled it yet again, sorry    The programme should have lasted 30 minutes, but with "b....y" adverts every 10 minutes, each lasting 5 minutes, it was padded out to 60 - I now know why I fall asleep so often    And as a result of the long intervals of course they had to recap - grrrrrrrrrrrrrh

Well - just watched the 2nd episode - The Sinking of The Titanic - and I have to say it was a lot better than the first.  They actually had a proper link between the three people and the stories were told really well.
And I suppose because it was further back in time the genealogy bit at the front was more relevant too...

There were the inevitable recaps in case we forgot what was going on of course...and the presenter was a littel too cheerful at times...

...but other than that quite a good effort

I found this episode interesting BUT in some place the awful jangly music jsut about drowned out the dialogue   So my plea would be that someone please sack the pianist
