My guess is that they have run out of people requesting them, probably temporarily.

Might be because Barbara (Tephra) has been away and hasn't had time to sort them out since she has been back.

I doubt that. I just don't think most RCers, apart from a small group, were made very aware of them. I only ever seemed to come across them when they were already well under way and about 33 pages long (I exaggerate a little!). Very difficult to join in when you'd have to invest all that time in order to catch up.

Long ago, before the scavenger hunts got going, I suggested a Brickwall Board intended to serve the same purpose, but it was dismissed because 'that's what Rootschat is all about anyway'.  I think that may well have hit the nail on the head. Who knows!  ::)

what do they bring to the table that an ordinary search thread doesnt?

Surely people looking to help go for all threads anyway - in fact sometimes theres quite a crowd around!

Hi Shash

Welcome to Rootschat :D

The Scavenger Hunts were a weekly thread in the Common Room where people had hit a brickwall.

They appeared to me to be where people had already had help elsewhere on Rootschat, eg on the county boards, but were still stuck and were seeking help from a wider audience who then gathered allsorts of random information for them which often helped break the wall down.

Hi,

As Jan said Barbara was away for a month, there were two hunts going while she was away, I am sure once Barbara has caught up with things, the hunts will be back on.

Cheers
