Elizabeth Dolman, Alrewas.
« on: Monday 17 October 11 14:09 BST (UK) »
Elizabeth married Francis Wait at All Saints, Alrewas on 24/09/1820. Can anyone tell me who her parents were, unfortunately I haven't her birth year but guess it was around 1800?

Many thanks.

There are a number of Elizabeth Dolman birth/baptism entries in Alrewas on the IGI - have you checked them out?

There is a Francis Wait age 40 occ Timber Merchant & Elizabeth Wait age 40 living Derby 1841c ref.  HO107; Piece 199; Book: 5; Civil Parish: St Alkmund  Derbyshire; ED 16; Folio: 28; Page: 4
dau. Mary age 15, there's also a Mary Wait age 50

Perhaps that will help narrow her birth/baptism date from the link that CaroleW has given you, this looks to be dau. Mary's christening

Mary Wait
parents Francis Wait & Elizabeth (extracted)

Thanks for your replies.  I have seen the IGI detail and I had thought, incorrectly as it's turned out, that Elizabeth's parents were Thomas & Ann but as they weren't born until around 1789 it would make the marriage of Elizabeth & Francis in 1820 highly improbable.

I already have the detail on their daughter, Mary, ch 1823 in Lichfield.

It is possible those you have found on the 1841 Census are the ones but I'm not 100% convinced and need to check further.

I came across this information-:

Elizabeth Dolman, spinster of Alrewas, married Francis Wait, bachelor of Yoxall at Alrewas 24/8/1820, witnesses: Moses Dolman & Ann Dolman.

Hope you can use it  :)

Some of my lot come from Alrewas & Elford.

If daughter Mary married John Sutton - then the 1851 census shows Elizabeth aged 60 so birthyear 1791

Davsuro, thanks for that. What you have said ties in with everything I have. The Dolmans were quite a prolific family as you have no doubt found out.

CaroleW, thanks for your input. The problem I had which I believe I have now resolved was that Elizabeth Dolman who married Francis Wait had a daughter Mary b 1823. Francis's brother William also married and had a daughter named Mary Anne b 1824. I had assumed, wrongly, it was Mary Anne who married John Sutton.

Thanks again for helping to unravel.
