McNally/Mclaughlin

Hi I am looking for any information on the following couple
James McAnally and Selina McLaughlin married Nov 2nd 1870 in Belfast, James was 22 and Selena 26, place of residence given as Whiteabbey, Carmoney. James parents were James McAnally and Margaret Downie, Selenas parents are William Mclauchlin and Ann Lochrie. They were RC. They moved to Scotland about 1871. There are various variants on both surnames especially on the Scottish side but I have used the spellings as on the marriage cert. Thanks Jasiain

Any more info on your Downie  from County Antrim? I'm researching my Downie ancestors, Robert Downie and Margaret McGeachan, parents of John Downie and Bridget McCurdy, whom I believe lived in that Irish county. The latter settled in Port Glasgow, Scotland. Any assistance would be so appreciated. Thanks.

Of course I can give you dates---how forgetful of me!
John Downie (b. 1835) and Bridget McCurdy (b. 1836, of the Rathlin Island McCurdys) married in Cushendun, County Antrim, in 1855.
We don't have anything else on John's parents, Robert Downie and Margaret McGeachan, except that Robert was a soldier. We're assuming that they're about 20 years older, which would mean birthdates circa 1810?
Even if this doesn't lead to anything, thanks for following up! I do appreciate it.

Just looking at my notes and discovered a death cert for Margaret Downie, husband James McInally, father John Downie (land steward) mothers name not entered and witnessed by James McInally son.She died in Glasgow in 1882.

Although I'm sure you would have mentioned it, did the death cert for Margaret Downie mention a place of birth?
I'm thinking that Margaret would have been of the same generation as my great-great-grandfather, John Downie, but his father was Robert Downie. Perhaps John and Margaret were cousins (and John a brother of Robert). My Downies also were Roman Catholic.
At any rate, thank you so much for keeping me in mind. If you ever get anything more specific on those Downie roots in Ireland, I'd appreciate the tip.
