I am trying to get information on Herries Irving born in Annan about 1792. She lived with James Fraser in Brachill and - the census has her under her maiden name and I have not found any marriage certificate. The names became family names but it may have been Harris Irvine as these were what was handed down. I have drawn blanks with Scotland's People.
Any help would be appreciated.

In 1841 she is Harries Frazer
1851 - Herries Irving
She died before 1861
Have you checked SP for the year of death as death certs from 1855 will give her parents names and mothers maiden name

PS - I assume you know how to use Wildcards to cut down on the number of searches you might need to do, and to open up other possibilities. eg, I used Irvin* which would include Irvine and Irving.
I also used H*rries to include Herries and Harries.
You could take that a stage further and search for H*r*s to include Harris also.

Thanks for the advice. I have tried to trace her using wildcards but the only Harries Fraser I can find is single and was registered by a neighbour. I'll keep looking.

I have a Haris Irving born 1808 Kirkpatrick Fleming, died 1869 Graitney Dumfries. She married Thomas Nelson C 1835 at Kirkpatrick Fleming.
For a long time I assumed that Haris was male and did not investigate further so was very surprised to discover that this was a female. The date does not match your Haris but I thought it worth a mention.

Harrries, Herries, Harris, Haris.
Such an unusual forename, I think.
You'd think it would be an easy name to research.
Apparently not. Good luck!
