Will go over them on the weekend and try and sort them out, now that I have most of the certificates. Waiting on Elizabeth B.C
Going through the charitable books I found Elizabeth LUND  was now Ellen LUND and  no Lily FONG but a Orpehus FONG.    ???

Still trying to find George SEFFELL . Going through the Kohimarama Boys School, still a few books to look at.

Hi KT...

It seems that Orpheus was the child sold for a fiver

PapersPast
http://www.rootschat.com/links/0h8e/

The ages of the children are listed which is helpful. It seems both Lily and Orpheus were five. Possibly twins?

------------------------------------------

Have you come across a Violet anywhere?

BDM NZ Births 1878/1882 - Violet SEFFIEL, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth. Born 17 Oct 1877
BDM NZ Deaths 1878/1199 - Violet SUFFEL. Died 17 Feb 1878, aged 4 months

Burial Locator says Malvern which I think is Selwyn District

Beg

Hi Beg, better call you super sleuth    ;D

Hell Bells what a mother.   :o  :o
No have not come across a Violet Seffiel, nothing in the card sytem (Archives) with that spelling

All my friend wanted to know happened to his great grand mother, still can not find her, but have discovered his grandmother had 1/2 siblings.

Not at all. It's just PapersPast, BDM NZ and Althea's trick of using Soundex.

Plus nothing worth watching on TV :-)

Hi again...

Maybe (or maybe not) Thomas and Elizabeth arriving into Canterbury, although her age is out by a few years assuming she was born in 1859.

The passenger list mentions Northumberland which is the county in which Newcastle-upon-Tyne is located (according to google)

Cardigan Castle - 1877
SAFFALL, Thomas (aged 35) + Elizabeth (aged 23) + William (aged four months)

In the article "Auckland Star" - 4 February 1892 - A Sad Case - page 4, Ex-Detective STRATHERN had this to say regarding Elizabeth LUND*.

    **   CORRECTION   **

date of newspaper should read  ...  4 February 1891
(not 1892).
