I pre-ordered the World Edition from Amazon for £64.02 and was a bit miffed yesterday to find that on the day of release they had dropped it by £12.29 so I sent them an email asking for the difference to be refunded since their pre-order price guarantee says you get it at the price you ordered it at or if that is less on the day of release, you pay the lower price.  Success, they've issued a refund for the difference ;D but sadly put the price up to  more than I pre-ordered it at.  Mind you, I bought it to reduce the cost of the world wide subscription when mine expires next February.  Thanks to the other rootschatter who posted about the prices, otherwise I would have been none the wiser. ;)

Do you get a 6 month subscription to Ancestry with the upgrade option (a 6 month World subscription is included in the full World Edition of FTM 2012 - currently £102.12 on Ancestry or £61.85 at amazon.co.uk)?

£61.27 on Ancestry appears to be the price for the Platinum Edition (currently £37.73 at amazon.co.uk) and which includes a 6 month Premiurm subscription to Ancestry.

According to TWR Computing's website the upgrade version only has 1 month essentials membership free with it.

Other thread - http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,557670.msg4137281.html#msg4137281

Depends why you are purchasing it, I was more interested in reducing my renewal last year and I don't have, and have no intention, of putting a tree on ancestry.

I was more interested in the comment on the flyer that was emailed regarding the interface being changed back to the 2006 version.  Having had a look in the manual, I'm not sure whether this is an available option or a bit of propoganda to get you to purchase it.  I have a copy of FTW2009 and don't like the interface. >:(

My copy of FTM 2012 arrived yesterday, bought for the subscription to Ancestry. As far as the interface goes, it looks very similar to the interface from FTM 2011 / 2010 / 2009. However, in the guide it says that if, when installing the program, it detects you are using version 16 or earlier, it will display a simplified interface which looks more like the old version.
As I haven't got the old version, I can't tell you whether this works, and I can't see any way of changing the interface from within the program. Nor can I tell what differences there are in the program itself between the latest and 2006 versions. There's certainly not a lot of difference between the 2012 and 2011 versions. I manged to get the world edition for £51.74 on Amazon, which I thought was a bargain for 6 months access.
