I have not seen it before. I pay for Ancestry but to be honest unless you know what your doing it isnt much help. It is good for the census' though.

I would like to send for the marriage cert for Joseph Norcross and margaret Entwhistle. How can i do that if I cant find it on Ancestry?

Do you know any tricks to find the reference number?

There were no national indexes of BMD's before July 1837, The marriage of Joseph is in the parish register. So there will be no reference number to order a certificate.

Prior to 1837 the father of the bride and groom were not noted on the register.
This looks to be Josephs baptism:
 
15 Feb 1814 St Wilfrid, Ribchester, Lancashire, England
Joseph Norcross - Child of James Norcross (Weaver) & Elizabeth
Living in  Ribchester

Marriage 10th February James son of Joseph and Margaret
Alice daughter of Joseph and Ann
witnesses Joseph Norcross and Alice Thirlwell

All at St Wilfreds


At St Augustines

James baptised 3rd July 1881 son of James and Alice nee Barton
sposers Aloysius Jackson and Mary Norcross
James married Mary poole at St Josephs Preston on the 9th July 1909

Henry baptised 7th December1879 son of James and Alice
sponsers Henry Harrison and Agnes Thiarwell

I have kept going back to this information that you got from the records office and it has helped.

Can I just ask you to clarify something

Was henry Baptised at St Josephs In 1879 or St Augustines...not sure how to read it thank you ;)
