Hi again,

On the marriage record that I have found for Ellen Kenneally it shows her father as James Kenneally.  Haywood has pointed out to me that there is an Ellen listed as born in Ballyporeen at around the correct date, but with a father named Thomas.

I guess this means one of two things: (a) I have been looking at the wrong Ellen Kenneally, or (b) Ellen's father used two names (James and Thomas).

Ballyporeen does look like it's a very long way from the Thurles area (where the Jeremiah Walsh/Ellen Kenneally marriage I have found in the records took place), so I am now wondering whether I am looking at the wrong Ellen completely or whether it is likely that she was indeed born in Ballyporeen but then for some reason moved up to Thurles area?

I did start another thread on here about people moving around between parishes, and Haywood has kindly pointed out that it would best if I just kept with the one thread so there is no duplication.

Thank you

Hope this doesn't muddy the waters too much but Rootsireland (North Tipperary) is showing a birth for an Ellen Kinneally with father James  in 1876 in Bourney Civil parish. This could match the Kenally family in Kilmacuddyin the census 1901. However you will have to pay eu 5 to view to check if there is a connection.

Thanks again Annclare.  I wonder if that is indeed the right Ellen.  It's just so hard to know isn't it.  There are so many Kenneallys/Kinallys etc. and Ellens it's a bit mindblowing for a novice like me!  I feel like I'm hitting a dead end as I just don't know who's who...
