Lemmon - British Columbia
« on: Wednesday 12 October 11 13:10 BST (UK) »
Hi
I don't know if anyone can help, but I am searching for children of a Donald lemmon and Charlotte Thomas.
Donald and Charlotte married 5th Oct 1929 Vancouver via Baptist licence  a relative has said that his great grandmother was told that she had a half sister by the name of D Lemmon daughter of Donald and Charlotte born abt 1930. I know that a D lemmon donated photographs to the Canadian library, if it is the correct D lemmon then she died about 1978
Charlotte had been married previously and she used her married name on the licence her maiden name was Hurley.
Is there anyone that can help, I live in the uk and don't have access to canadian records.
Thank you

Your query has been posted onto someone else's thread. I have informed the moderators who will move it to it's own space.  Please read through some beginner's information here when you have some time. http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php

.There is a 100 year privacy law for births in Canada, and some are more than that by choice of each Province... so those births won't be available for a long time.
Also you have posted the name of a person who may be living, please change the first name to initial only we are a family history site so we are here to search for ancestors. See http://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php/topic,260815.0.html

I haven't been able to find much on this couple. Where did you get the information for the marriage as I haven't been able to find one under either Lemmon or Lemon.

I went to family search and found the deaths.

Donald Lemmon
b. July 1, 1886, Emerson, Manitoba
d. 31 May 1979, Vancouver, BC
spouse - Charlotte Hurley
father - George Lemmon
mother - Margaret Collins

Charlotte Lemmon
b. 1887 Llanelly, Wales
d. 12 May 1979, Coquitlam, BC (Part of the Metro Vancouver area)
father - Thomas Hurley

My best suggestion is to contact the Vancouver Public Library to see if they can find some info for you. Most of the larger libraries have an "Ask a Librarian" section. I went to the legacy project but couldn't find an obituary for them. They died within a couple of months of each other and if there weren't any living relatives, they may not have obituaries.

Do you have an approximate date for the birth of the daughter and also her death, whether she married, any information that could help in the search. If you know for sure that she is deceased you can post her name.

Here is a link to the Canada white pages. Put just Lemmon (with 2nd m) and a location of British Columbia. There are not very many and contact info is provided. A few letters may turn up a rellie.

www.findagrave.com
the Donna Lemmon that you have posted was born Hoffman.
She married Shirle Fairholm Lemmon Oct 11, 1946

Donna H. Lemmon (nee Hoffman)
b. Feb 27, 1930
d. Dec 26, 1978
spouse
Shirle Fairholm Lemmon
b. Apr 25, 1928 Salt Lake City
d. Mar 9, 1997, Salt Lake City
His obituary is on file with pictures of the gravestone.
I would say this isn't a daughter of Donald and Charlotte.

Val
