I've been looking for a John Watkin, born in Newtown for ages. His age is consistent in multiple censuses, as is the place of birth (Newtown).
I think I've finally pinned him down (thanks to the online records @ findmypast). I've certainly got him down to a choice of two:
* John WATKIN, born 6 Jul 1800, Llandyssil, parents Rhees Watkin & Mary
* John WATKIN, born 3 Jun 1800, Trefeglwys, parents Thomas Watkin & Elizabeth.
I suspect the one I want is the son of Rhees (who appears in the 1841 census living in Newtown) but I'm wondering if anyone else is looking at WATKIN genealogy in the area?
I can't find much trace of the other John (father Thomas) . . . so I can't really rule him out.
Or if anyone has any ideas to the slippery b****r down?
