I am trying to find out details concerning the parents of my great grandmother Agnes Jane Dornan b c 1858 at Greyabbey, Co. Down. She married my great grandfather William John Edgar in 1876.

Marriage certificate should list her father's name and occupation.

Where did the marriage take place? marriages usually take place in the bride's church so that might be a starting point to find her family.

Marriage took place on 29 Dec 1876 @ Parish Church, Carrowdore.

Agnes Jane's father is denoted as Hugh Dornan [labourer].  Agnes Jane's residence is given as Greyabbey Mills which I suspect was the Mill House beside the corn mill at Kircubbin Road, Greyabbey.  She may have been in service there at the time of the marriage.

Unaware of residence of her father Hugh or of the name of her mother.

This is the only Dornan in Greyabbey DED in 1901. Another Agnes, whose age would allow her to be your Agnes's mother.

Already have this information.

Unable to confirm if this was Agnes Jane's mother.  It is noted that Hugh Dornan does not appear on the 1901 return, which is interesting as I have found a gravestone in Greyabbey Old Cemetery which records the death of Hugh Dornan on 11 March 1906 [some 5 years after the census].

Same gravestone records death of Agnes Dornan on 18 Feb 1907.

Are you sure of the gravestone dates? I searched civil registration for Hugh Dornan 1906 and Agnes Dornan 1907 and can't find either.
