I'm looking for information on James Gregg, Town Clerk of Kilmarnock in 1792, I have been unable to find his death.  He was born 1767, but I have no idea who his parents were.  He married Lewis brown she was born 9 July 1771, Kilmarnock.  I know he built a house where the Dick Institute now stands.  This house was called Lewisville/Elmbank House.  James Gregg was a Writer/Solicitor and worked a lot in Edinburgh.  His 5th daughter Charles married  James Morison of Mauchline Matthew Morison's son, renowned cabinet makers in Edinburgh.

Can anyone shed some light on this man.

Thank you C
