1823 17th Regiment of Foot Enlistment Papers?

Could someone steer me in the right direction please.

An ancestor, Richard Seymour enlisted in the 17th Regiment of Foot in Gosport July 1823.
I know his whereabouts for pretty much every month from July 1823 until his discharge in 1848 in Australia.
I also have his discharge papers
Would there be enlistment papers?  If so, where would they be?

PS. I have contacted National Archives to try and get copies of the July 1823 17th Foot pay & muster papers to see if there are any enlistment papers or further information about Richard Seyour in this document.  Long and convoluted story,  but it would be cheaper for me to fly to UK than get this document copied and sent or scanned and emailed.

Thank you for your response/reply.  I recently have contacted the Army museum Ogliby trust (as per your link), who put me in touch with the Royal Leicestershire Regiment Museum, and ended up communicating with the curator there.  Curator suggested that the, now deceased, wonderful 17th foot researcher David Murphy whose research I am very aware of - ie is basis of most of my knowledge.  No further additional info to be gained via the museums.
I appreciate you taking the time to reply and offer of possible research avenues.

An update
Contact via a lovely pm from UK which resulted in pmmer (is this a word?) looking up many many pages of muster records at National Archives.  Clarification was made regarding my ancestor's recruitment and place of enlistment (which made his alleged birth place more valid).  Despite pmmer's best efforts, no further info could be found at 7 year & 14 year service musters.  So I have only the info on my ancestors discharge papers plus now my ancestor's birth place makes sense.

am also looking for similar data on my ancestor Thomas Conroy of the 17th Foot. Would like details of how you got information. What is a pmmer? and pm?
