Waterson - Blofield
« on: Friday 07 October 11 20:27 BST (UK) »
Would be grateful of any help regarding my 4x great grandparents.

I have William Edward Waterson born abt 1819 Blofield, Norfolk. I have found the following marriage on the IGI:

groom's name: William Edward Waterson
bride's name: Caroline Lummens
marriage date: 06 Jun 1842
marriage place: Norwich, Norfolk, England
groom's father's name: George Waterson
bride's father's name: John Lummens
indexing project (batch) number: I02576-5
system origin: England-EASy
source film number: 1526323

On ancestry Caroline's surname is shown as Summons.

Would anybody have access to parish records to confirm details.

Hello,

Don't know if you've managed to use the link that Youngtug gave.

Found both of their baptisms in Blofield, and Caroline is listed as Simmons, parents John and Patience.  So I think maybe the Caroline "Summons" on the 1841 census might be wrong.  That Caroline's father is shown as Robert, whereas the marriage gives your Carolines father as John.

The IGI gives only Norwich as the marriage place - bit difficult to find, as there were goodness knows how many churches there!

The capital letters "L" and "S" are often confused.  ;)

Oh well done Junev.

Here it is on the FamilySearch site.  Saved a lot of looking.  And looking at the writing, the "S" does look like an "L", but there again, the "S" in Spinster looks the same as the "S" in Caroline's surname, if you get my drift.

Wow, thank you all so much for this information.

I didn't even know that some actual parish records were shown on family search, just goes to show how fantastic this forum is for helping to point people in the right direction.

Once again, thank you all  ;D
