Manchester Lancashire birth Durant

Hopefully I'm in the right area for this question.

Andrew Durant born 1852/55 he says Manchester Lancashire on wedding cert 1871, can't find him anywhere!
Fathers name James (can't find him either) all circus folk difficult to find!
Does anyone have any information on a durant being born in these years, anything might help.

Failure to register a birth only became a fineable offence in 1874/5 so many births went unregistered prior to then

Hi Carole,

he married in Glasgow in 1872 age 20, both parents were recorded as deceased. On the certificate he is named as Andrew Durrne, I'm thinking that because of the accent it was changed from Durant....who knows!

If he married in Scotland - his marriage cert should also show his mothers name and maiden name - does it?

Hi Carole,

Yes this is him. His mother's  name was Mary Ann Durant nee Devine, father James Durant.  I cannot find any marriage cert for them either. and as I said previously, they were both deceased by the time he married in 1872. Being in the circus they travelled everywhere, almost all of Andrews children were born in different places. James (age 7 born in scotland) middle name was Divine/devine. None of the family knew this until I found him, they all thought his name was James Washington Durant, this was his stage name, he was an acrobat and contortionist.
