I was wondering if anyone can help me find out if an ancestor was in sing sing prison around 1904/5
The old family story goes - 2nd great grandad Thomas Rosum left his wife and children to go to America and end up in sing sing prison - not to be seen again.
What I have been able to prove - He did go to America in 1904 it states on ship documents that he is going to see him brother Joseph Rossom, but he had to have been back in England in 1905 as he had a daughter born in 1906 and he appears on the 1911 census living with his family.
I think the story could be possibly be about his brother Joseph and the details have become a bit mixed up over the years. Thomas states he is going to see his brother - but his brother is 15 years older and the last time he saw him was when he was only 3. Their father died in 1902 and Thomas was the only surviving brother - so is it possible that word was sent from America and he went to help his older brother? I have details on Joseph on the 1900 & 1910 American census.
If someone could do a look up or point me in the right direction I would be very grateful. Hope this makes sense. Many thanks.
