Most of my information comes from the NZ Cyclopedia of Otago and Southland
1904 -an article on William Robert who owned a coalmine in the area. I presume he was interviewed for the article as he died in 1911.
Thank you. Valuable resources however I have found with my own family that there were errors. I sense that in the case of my great grandfather, my great grandmother either forgot or was remiss in mentioning some information, which I feel was an important part of his life. He died prior to a similar publication in Victoria. The information was submitted and I think there would have been a fee to help defray publishing costs. I have a bit of a giggle at my gggrandfather's entry....long rambling sentences and an emphasis on his successful business...many times

When you say 'I have checked out the marriage entry image' do you mean you purchased and immediately downloaded the image of the certificate from
https://online.justice.vic.gov.au/bdm/index-search?action=purchaseImageCivil reg was introduced in Vic in 1853 and I would have thought there would have been detail on the marriage certificate.

There were other PACEY's in Vic at the time and one was from Lincolnshire and East Stoke, Nottinghamshire was part of a registration district which included an area of Lincolnshire.
Have you attempted to find Wm on the 1841 census? A family in the 1841 census in East Stoke parish had a Wm but he was born c1837 ie 4 years of age. I'll have to have another look but there was a family with a son Robert as well as a Wm....can't recall the father's name...but definitely not Gilbert. A quick search on IGI doesn't bring up any Gilbert PACEY's in that era.
Cheers
