I cannot believe all this information, woke up this morning to a deluge of info, brillant

Just looking at it I jumped to the ship Affric becuase we have a diary that was published here in Lisburn by the family of Alec Martin. He was an ANZAC and died at end April 1915. He kept his diary on the Affric as he travelled to Aus and with him was his Aunty (Not named) and  a lot of little Mayes (Not named), Also a Mr & Mrs Thompson travelled with him. He say he meet his Uncle Tom in Sydney.

His mother was a Mayes.

This info is amazing,

thank you so much

Alex MARTIN 18 Clerk had ticket 14578 on the AFRIC.  All sources have the spelling as AFRIC not AFFRIC.

I am working on gathering info for a possible history of the church in magheragall where this family came from. They have strong links on this end to the clergy of the church of ireland.

I am also in contact with a member of the family who is currently doing research into family, i hope  he can get on to the site becuase what you have sent is filling the holes in  for his tree. I have emailed all the stuff you have sent so far.

The nephew Alec Martin the ANZAC is on the War memorial here in the church and he also has other family connections to Aus.

It is a great help

thank you again

Hi again

Thank you for all your help with the two Mayes brothers and their families. In the tree there are two brothers, nephews of the Mayes who went to Australia. One of whom is mentioned above Alec and he went on to New Zealand, enlisted and died in 1st World War. The other we think stayed in Australia, his details as follows

Name Samuel Richard Martin
Date of Birth 18/09/1902
Parents John & Isabella (Nee Mayes)
Address at birth Hallstown Magheragall Co Antrim
Emigrated to Australia

Could you help with this one,
thank you

Hi again

thanks for the martin info, it is the individual in question

I know I have asked alot already but I missed the first of the mayes brother who emigrated to Australia, he was an older brother of Thomas Graham and Robert, the two brothers you so kindly helped me with. As mentioned earlier I am working on Magheragall Anglican Church history and the family at that time were very connected to the church. I also have contact with family here who are currently researching and they have asked about this first brother,  could you please help with William and info i have is as follows

William Mayes born Sept 1862 but may be recorded five years either side – he visited Australia with Elizabeth his wife around 1892 when their daughter Jane was born in Sydney
he went to California and then returned to Australia around 1912 to 1915 – he also seemed to have lived with his son William Greeley Mayes who also immigrated around the same time – he was born in USA in1894 and is known to have married Carol – All these people lived in NSW – William died in 1943 at Chatswood

thank you
once again
